Notable apps and updates, Nov. 12-17

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.

iOS Apps/Updates

Crayola is expanding its digital portfolio to include Crayola Create and Play. Designed for kids ages three to five, the free app features “STEAM-inspired content and interactive activities that are thoughtfully designed to spark kids’ imaginations and help them develop beneficial skills such as learning logic, coding, dexterity, cause and effect, caring for pets, color theory and more.”

Those Eyes and film studio Klassefilm have launched Cosmic Top Secret. The $5.99 game is a hybrid of reality and fantasy told in an abstract paper craft world. Cosmic Top Secret tells the story of Trine and her journey to discover more about her parent’s involvement with the Danish Intelligence Service during the Cold War.

macOS Apps/Updates

Ergonis Software has announced Typinator 7.8, a new version of their text expander for the Mac. It improves support for macOS Mojave.

In particular, Typinator contains built-in helper applications that have now been updated to 64-bit, which is required on Mojave. What’s more, Typinator 7.8 provides better import from TextExpander, improved scrolling and clipping in the expansion field, and more.

Typinator requires macOS 10.6 or newer. It can be purchased securely on the Ergonis Software website. The upgrade to Typinator 7.8 is free for Typinator 7 license owners and for anyone who purchased a license for Typinator 6 in or after January 2016. Upgrade paths are available for owners of older licenses.
