Notable apps and updates: March 10

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS

Corel has rolled out its CorelDRAW 2021 product lineup featuring professional graphic design software, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2021. It provides vector illustration, layout and typography, photo editing, and more, 

Available for macOS and Windows, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2021doubles down on collaboration with access to next-generation tools that streamline the design and review process, says John Falsetto, senior director of Products, Graphics and Productivity at Corel. He says you can boost productivity with a flexible design space that empowers users to take control of projects and assets. 

Advanced illustration and photo editing capabilities make it faster than ever for designers to achieve their creative vision. What’s more, Falsetto says CorelDRAW.app is now touch-optimized and available as an all-new iPad app, giving graphics pros new options to be creative anywhere, from virtually any device.

The subscription-based CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2021 costs US$249 per year. A 15-day demo is available to try for free.

OTOY has released Octane X on the Mac App Store. It’s a free “spectrally-correct” GPU rendering platform for creative workflows across the Apple ecosystem, including visual effects, motion graphics, gaming, design, concept art and architectural visualization.

It purportedly brings all Octane X Enterprise standalone features to every Mac running macOS Big Sur, alongside two new exclusive offers of Octane X Prime and Enterprise subscriptions, each free for one year, with access to the full suite of Octane X plug-in integrations across 3D content creation tools including Cinema4D, SketchUp, Maya, Houdini, Blender, Modo, Nuke, Unreal Engine and Unity.

Users of a MacBook Pro, iMac Pro and Mac Pro will have access to a full year of Octane X Enterprise, including RNDR, a distributed blockchain GPU rendering platform. All other Macs including models powered by the Apple M1 chip, and the latest AMD and Intel integrated graphics on macOS Big Sur 11.1 and later, will have one-year access to Octane X Prime, including access to all Octane X DCC integrations.

iOS

QUVRY is a new, free iOS mobile app allowing video calls to be “cast” wirelessly onto your TV. 

By utilizing the technology that’s already in your home, you video call and cast ultra HD video calls in full screen through the “Screen Mirroring” function to your TV. QUVRY is a free app.
