Notable apps and updates: July 7

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS

Alfons Schmid has released Notebooks 11 for the iPad and iPhone. It introduces full compatibility with iCloud Drive.

Users can set up Notebooks to keep its documents on iCloud and automatically sync them between devices. Users also have the option to select any folder on their iPad or iPhone, on iCloud or on a connected drive or USB stick as storage location.

All documents are stored as regular files in a hierarchy of folders. When synchronizing with iCloud, Notebooks’ documents become accessible from Finder on a Mac and editable in other applications. This makes Notebooks an open system in contrast to apps which store documents in databases.

Notebooks 11 requires iOS/iPadOS 12 or later and costs US$7.99. It’s available at the App Store.

macOS

Mosyle, which specializes in Apple MDM and security, has introduced Screen View, the company’s latest feature designed to make device screen sharing between Mac Admins and end-users more accessible.

It enables Mac Admins to use any device logged into Mosyle’s Admin Portal to view the screen of any macOS, iOS or iPadOS device managed by an organization. This functionality streamlines the steps it takes to deliver personalized Apple support and guidance to students, teachers and enterprise employees, according to Moslye CEO Alcry Araujo.

Screen View is available with the company’s Mosyle Fuse and Mosyle Manager Premium at no additional cost. The new feature is supported on major web browsers, including Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox.
