Notable apps and updates: July 22

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS

Zevrix Solutions has announced BatchOutput PPT 2.2.21, a compatibility update to the company’s output automation solution for Microsoft PowerPoint.

In addition to batch printing, the software lets users carry out automated professional PDF production directly from PowerPoint. Users can reduce PDF file size, optimize images and encrypt PDF files. Version 2.2.21 adds native support for Apple’s M1 processor, which enables users to run BatchOutput DOC on their Silicon Macs without hardware emulation.

BatchOutput PPT can be purchased for US$19.95 from the Zevrix website, as well as from Mac App Store and authorized resellers. A demo is available for download. BatchOutput PPT requires macOS 10.9 – 11.x and Microsoft PowerPoint 2011-2019 and later.

tvOS

Verizon is releasing a Fios TV app for the Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD, and Amazon Fire TV today. It provides Fios TV subscribers with additional platforms to watch live television.

All new Fios TV plans will come with Verizon’s voice-powered Fios TV One box at no additional charge. Now customers won’t have to pay a fee for a second Fios TV One box. Instead they can download the Fios TV app for the Apple TV or Amazon Fire TV and access the live television channels included in their plan using those set-top boxes. However, there is a limit of two simultaneous streams per Fios TV One box.
