Notable apps and updates, January 27

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS/tvOS

As noted by 9to5Mac, Plex has announced its new gaming service/feature on its blog today. With compatibility on iOS/Android, Apple TV, and many more devices, the company is pitching Plex Arcade as an anytime, anywhere gaming service. Along with access to some of the most iconic Atari titles, users will be able to save, organize, and play their own ROMs.

macOS

Zevrix Solutions has announced Output Factory 2.4.52, a feature update to company’s output automation tool for Adobe InDesign.

Output Factory is designed to solve the problem of time consuming manual production from InDesign through automation of printing, exporting, preflighting, layer versioning and other repetitive tasks. Version 2.4.52 adds new options to the output subfolder tree engine which allows users to automatically create output locations based on variable data in InDesign documents.

Output Factory can be purchased from the Zevrix website for US$170; a “lite” version is available for $120. Also a demo is available for download. The update is free for the users of Output Factory 2.x, and $85 to upgrade from Output Factory 1.x and BatchOutput. Output Factory requires macOS 10.8-11 and Adobe InDesign CS5-2021.
