Notable apps and updates, January 12

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS

Tropical Software has cooked up KitchenTimer 1.2, an update to their timer app for macOS.

A software representation of the old fashioned mechanical timer, the tool offers a  way to time things just like the old-time mechanical timer it emulates. You can time various cooking activities and any other things as well. You can set multiple overlapping timers, or alternatively timing anything you like.

Kitchen Timer 1.2 offers Universal compatibility for macOS Big Sur and M1 Macs. It requires macOS 10.7 or higher and costs U$2.99. It’s available at the Mac App Store.

Zevrix Solutions has announced Graphic Inspector 2.5.2, a feature update to company’s quality control solution for images and vector graphics files.

Graphic Inspector can flag images and Illustrator files with specific attributes such as resolution, color, spot channels, bit depth, metadata, embedded fonts and more. Version 2.5.2 adds the ability to report the image print size based on file’s resolution and pixel dimensions. Users can also preflight images by their width and height values.

Graphic Inspector can be purchased from the Zevrix website for $19.95. A demo is available for download. The update is free for users of version 2 ($10 to upgrade from version 1). Graphic Inspector requires macOS 10.9-11.0 (Big Sur).
