Notable apps and updates, Jan. 13-18

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.

macOS

Cisdem Video Converter for Mac 5.0.0 has been released. The new version fixes four issues and optimizes memory usage.

Cisdem Video Converter is a video converter, video downloader, video editor and DVD ripper, all rolled into one. Supporting almost all video and audio formats, it can convert video files and audio files for smooth playback on devices and media players. The video download feature supports over 1,000 websites such as YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.

PremiumSoft has released Navicat Data Modeler 3.0, an update of its utility designed for complex data modeling. The upgrades focuses on improving responsiveness, usability, and performance.

Navicat Data Modeler 3.0 is available on macOS, Windows, and Linux platforms. A perpetual license is priced at US$459 (commercial) and $249 (non-commercial). A subscription license is 22.99/month (commercial) and 12.99/month (non-commercial). A demo is available for download.

Cisdem has updated its Cisdem Document Reader for Mac to version 5.1.0.

The app allows you to view, convert, export, and print files in such formats as PDF, WordPerfect, WPS, XPS, OXPS, Visio, DjVu, and Winmail.dat. Version 5.1.0 optimizes the MPD display quality and fixes some glitches.

Cisdem Document Reader requires macOS 10.11 or later. It costs $29.99; a demo is available for download.

iOS

Quicken, maker of personal finance software, has launched Simplifi, a personal finance app designed “to help a new generation of consumers easily stay on top of their finances.”

It offers a way to see a consolidated view of all your accounts, track your day to day spending, and more. Simplifi is available through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and at SimplifiMoney.com. You can try it for free for 30 days, after which it is $3.99/month or $39.99/year. Phone support and chat are included for free.
