Notable apps and updates, Feb. 17

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS

Softobe has released Kinemac 2.0.4, an update to their real-time 3D animation software for macOS.

It allows anyone to create 3D and 2D animations. It uses great technologies such as AVFoundation to manage video and audio files and to smoothly export your animations to a movie file. Now a 64-bit application, Kinemac version 2 sports a new look and feel, new icons and graphical user interface, support for Light and Dark modes, and more.

Kinemac 2.0.4 works with macOS 10.13 and higher. For new users the cost is US$108. A demo is available for download.

Kaleidoscope, the text and image compare app tailored for the Mac by Letter Opener, has been upgraded to version 2.4. The update brings Xcode Debugger Integration, which allows developers to compare debug text and image output, enabling them to iterate over common development tasks.

Kaleidoscope 2.4 is a free update for all existing version 2 customers. The 14-day free trial period has been reset for version 2.4. Users who tested Kaleidoscope in the past can give the new version a try.

Zevrix Solutions has announced LinkOptimizer 6, an upgrade to company’s workflow automation tool for Adobe InDesign.

The tool facilitates automatic InDesign link size reduction and image properties conversion. Version 6introduces the ability to preserve PSD layer visibility applied in InDesign, relinking of duplicates to a single image, iCloud sync of settings presets, macOS dark mode support, Photoshop version selection, and more.

LinkOptimizer 6 can be purchased from the Zevrix website for $259.95; a “lite” version costs $179.95). A demo is available for download.

Licensed users of earlier versions can upgrade to LinkOptimizer 6 for $130 (or the lite version for $90). The upgrade is free for users who purchased LinkOptimizer 5 after October 1, 2020. LinkOptimizer requires macOS 10.12-11.0 and Adobe InDesign / Photoshop CS6-CC 2021.
