Notable apps and updates, Aug. 26-31

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.

macOS

Apptorium has debuted SideNotes 1.0, a note-taking solution exclusively for macOS. 

It allows you to take notes and keep them out of the way by positioning notes on the side of your Mac’s screen. Notes can be shown or hidden with a single click, by simply pressing a keyboard shortcut or by moving mouse cursor. SideNotes provides text formatting that takes advantage of Markdown and regular text formatting.

It requires macOS 10.14 or later. During its launch, SideNotes 1.0 is available for $9.99 (50% off) exclusively through the Mac App Store in the Productivity category. A demo version is available. Setapp subscribers also got access to SideNotes. 

MacXDVD has announced MacX DVD Ripper Pro 6.2.3, an update to its DVD ripper for the Mac. 

The software can rip protected/homemade DVDs to any format. With it, you can convert DVDs into MP4 H.264 and H.265 formats for t use on any platforms, including Macs, iOS devices, the Apple TV, and more — as well as popular web browsers.

MacX DVD Ripper Pro V6.2.3, normally priced at $67.95, is now 56% off at $29.95. A seven-day free trial is available.

SweetP Productions has served up Cookie 6.0, an update to their macOS cookie and privacy management app. 

After the initial setup, it’s designed to keep you safe from tracking and online profiling just the way you want. Cookie is designed to run invisibly in the background. 

Cookie 6.0 requires macOS 10.14 and costs $19.99. A demo is available for download.
