Notable apps and updates: April 2

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS

Wondershare Filmora has released version 10.2 of its video creation tool.

The latest version comes with advanced features like Auto Reframe, fresh split-screen templates for Instagram, HEVC Codec support for the instant cutter tool and direct importing from photo libraries. It’s compatible with macOS 10.12 and higher. Pricing starts at US$44.99 per year. A demo is available for download.

Eve has announced the availability of Thread support for the second-generation Eve Aqua (pictured), which is now available through an Eve Aqua firmware update.

Eve says it aims to enhance all its Bluetooth-enabled accessories with Thread technology. Some Eve accessories are already equipped with a Thread-capable chipset, only needing a firmware update to enable Thread. Eve Aqua 2nd generation has already been shipping with Thread-capable hardware since summer 2020. For further help identifying device generations, users can visit www.evehome.com/identify.

Apple has updated its free Apple Support app to version 4.2. Per Apple’s release notes, the upgrade offers:

° Updated coverage details now displays more information about your benefits and service options;

° Get reminders about your upcoming reservations sent to you by text message or phone;

° Performance enhancements and bug fixes.

iOS

Bim – Social Fitness App is a new fitness app that enables friends, communities, and coaches to remotely workout together with live multi-user video.

It combines home workout programs with real-time multi-user video for up to 20 participants. Bim requires iOS 13.0 or later. It’s free and available at the App Store.
