Notable apps and app updates for Sept. 14, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS Apps/Updates

Neoappz has introduced Message Translator 1.0. It’s a $1.99 iMessage app that allows users to send messages in over 90 languages.

Aviation Mobile Apps has launched GPS Coordinate Converter. The $0.99 app provides pilots with a way to convert coordinates mid-flight, among other functions.

FimFum has debuted its self-titled video showing app. With the free tool, users can show videos to their friends, pause, rewind, and fast forward and watch the same frame at the same time.

Gerald Fairclough has created Emoji Kit 1.0. It’s an iOS 10 Messages extension that brings a personal touch to your emoji. With Emoji Kit, users can take pictures and customize them with familiar emoji accessories. A new sticker is created from the emoji and these stickers can be dragged onto text bubbles or sent as part of a new message. Emoji Kit is free, but does tout -in-app purchases.

Guilherme Rambo has announced ChibiStudio 1.0.13. The social networking app lets users create cute little characters in collaboration with friends, inside Messages. The app offers more than 500 items including all sorts of eyes, hair, mouth, clothing, shoes and other categories. ChibiStudio is free, but does tout in-app purchases.

Authors Jan-Olof Andersson, Olle Edsbacker, and Anders Nyby have published Profitable Growth – Business Finance for Everyone 1.0. The $19.99 eBook for iOS devices, available in the iBooks Store (), explains and demonstrates to non-financial employees financial theories and concepts that are important for any company. The interactive publication makes use of multi-touch, video, audio, and printed text.

Mac OS X Apps/Updates

Ergonis Software has rolled out KeyCue 8.2, an update of their keyboard shortcut cheat sheet. The upgrade now closely integrates with PopChar X, allowing you to quickly show recently used and favorite characters from PopChar in KeyCue’s head-up display and insert them with a click.

KeyCue 8.2 requires Mac OS X 10.6 or later. The upgrade is free for anyone who owns KeyQue 8 or how purchased a license for KeyCue 7 on or after March 1, 2015. Upgrade paths are available for owners of older licenses. For new users the cost is $19.99 for a single user license and $29.95 for a family pack.

Escape Motions has released Rebelle 1.5, an update to its watercolor and acrylic painting application for Mac OS X. Its watercolor simulation is based on a real-world color mixing, blending, wet- diffusion, and drying.

Rebelle mimics the way natural media interacts with the canvas and itself. Users can paint, smear, re-wet dried colors, blow wet washes across the paper, tilt the paper to create water drops and runs and create countless fantastic watercolor effects. Wet tools — watercolors, acrylics or ink pen — can be combined with pastels, pencils, airbrush many other dry-media tools and effects. Version 1.5 offers: new, more realistic paint blending for watercolors and acrylics; new options for watercolors and acrylic; touch gestures for Wacom, Surface and other tablets; and more. 

Rebelle is available for $59.99 at the Escape Motions website. A demo is available for download; version 1.5 is a free upgrade for registered users. 

publicspace.net has given us A Better Finder Attributes 6.0 for Mac OS X. The product is used by professional and hobby photographers for correcting photo shooting date information. The new version adds JPEG EXIF meta-data editing, meta-data and image preview and a redesigned user experience.

A Better Finder Attributes requires Mac OS X 10.7 later. It costs $14.95; family, business and enterprise licensing are available.

MacFlite Software has served up Tube Saver 1.0.4 for Mac OS X. It’s designed to make downloading YouTube videos simple and easy. 

Tube Saver also includes its own native media player to play videos directly from the download list fully supporting full screen and Apple AirPlay. It costs $9.99 and requires Mac OS X Yosemite or El Capitan. Tube Saver is available at the MacFlite website.
