Notable apps and app updates for Oct. 12, 2017

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS Apps/Updates

AKVIS has released SmartMask 10, a selection tool designed to make image masking fun and simple. Version 10 provides users with the new Refine Radius tool, enhanced Magic Brush tool, and other improvements.

AKVIS SmartMask allows switching between Auto and Manual modes to achieve the best possible result with any photo. For more nuanced and precise excision of a monochrome background, SmartMask offers the Chroma Key mode. To improve the selection to a very fine point and make it as perfect as possible, the Refine Edges mode and a number of post-processing tools are available.

AKVIS SmartMask requires macOS 10.7 or higher and costs $69. One license key allows activating and using the software on two computers. The product is available as a standalone application and as a plugin filter for Adobe Photoshop and other image editors.

Zevrix Solutions has announced Deliver Express 2.6.4 a compatibility update to the company’s hot folder-based file transfer automation solution.

It supports FTP, SFTP, Amazon S3, WebDAV and other remote and local services. The software offers automatic email notifications, file compression, upload history and more.

The app can serve unlimited users on a network. The new version makes Deliver Express a 64-bit app and introduces support for the macOS High Sierra.

Deliver Express can be purchased from the Zevrix website. The license prices are based on the maximum number of allowed destinations and range from $29.95 to $299.95. The 2.6.4 update is free for licensed customers. A demo is available for download. Deliver Express requires macOS 10.5 or higher.
