Notable apps and app updates for May 2, 2017

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS Apps/Updates

Creaceed has introduced Prizmo Go 1.0. The app lets the user take a picture of printed text, then recognizes it using OCR technology. Part of said text can then be selected directly from the photo by swiping through it. Users can then interact with it or just copy/paste it to other apps or just copy/paste it to other apps or to the Mac.

Prizmo Go 1.0 is available as a free app and is localized in 16 languages, but access to text is limited. Text access can be unlocked by purchasing Export Pack for $4.99 as a one-time purchase. Cloud OCR requires units to be operated, units that can be purchased directly within the app: a 100-pack is $0.99, and a 1,000-pack is $4.99.

macOS Apps/Updates

Out of the Park Developments, an official licensee of MLB.com, the MLBPA, and MiLB.com, has announced that Out of the Park Baseball 18 is now available. The follow-up to the Metacritic 2016 PC Game of the Year features a new Challenge Mode, Online Profiles and Leaderboards, real 2017 major and minor league rosters, historic Negro League teams, improved 3D mode, new tournaments, and more.

Out of the Park Baseball 18 sells for $39.99. It’s available on Steam and through the company’s website. OOTP 18 runs on Mac, Windows, and Linux. Like last year, it features the American League and National League logos, the World Series trophy, official logos and jerseys for all 30 MLB teams, over 150 Minor League Baseball league and team logos, and historical MLB logos.
