Notable apps and app updates for May 1, 2018

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS Apps/Updates

Evgeny Cherpak has announced Remote Control for Mac 8.6.1, an update to the remote control app for iOS and watchOS devices.

It allows iOS device users to remotely control their Mac, using their iPhone or iPad as a keyboard and trackpad. Anyone can also launch any app on the Mac from anywhere in their home. The app can also put the Mac to sleep, wake it up, and even control volume, playback, and AirPlay mirroring on the computer.

Remote Control for Mac 8.6.1 costs $4.99. It’s available worldwide exclusively through the Apple App Store.

macOS Apps/Updates

Apimac has released Clean Text 7 for Mac, an update of the app that reduces text cleanup and processing time.

Clean Text is used to automate cleanup and editing text from text files, PDFs, documents from word processors, web pages, emails or other text material. Version 7 takes advantage of Apple’s Machine Learning technology to instantly identify personal names, place names and organization names mentioned in the text.

Clean Text for Mac 7 retails for $24.99 and requires macOS 10.12 or higher. It’s available at the Mac App Store. A demo is also available for download.
