Notable apps and app updates for July 18, 2018

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS Apps/Updates

Ergonis Software has rolled out KeyCue 9, an update of their keyboard shortcut cheat sheet. The upgrade shows a table of all available emoji characters and lets you insert any emoji with a click.

KeyCue 9 requires macOS 10.7 or later. The upgrade is free for anyone who purchased a license on or after Oct. 1, 2017. Upgrade paths are available for owners of older licenses. For new users the cost is normally $19.99 for a single user license and $29.95 for a family pack. However, Ergonis is offering a 25% off sale through July 24 by entering coupon code “WorldEmojiWeek18PE” during checkout (does not apply to upgrade orders).



MacAppware, a division of 128bit Technologies, has added 250 new editable graphics to Logo Pop, its logo design app for Mac. 

The utility allows you to create a professional looking vector based logo, and then use it online or in print with support for all popular image formats including transparent PNGs, and vector PDF and SVG formats. Logo Pop also includes a library of pre-designed logo templates and editable graphics to get you started.

Logo Pop requires macOS 10.7 or higher. Logo Pop It’s available at the Tension Software website, and through the Mac App Store in the Graphics & Design category for the limited time price of $19.99, a savings of 50% off the normal price of $39.99.

Tension Software has updated Mac Shutdown to version 4.1. It’s an app that allows you to use “soft shutdown” and “hard shutdown” on your Mac. 

The former is issued at Finder level and ask to all the running app to quit before shutting down your Mac. The latter is issued at system level and offers a low level of probability of having the shut down interrupted by an app refusing to quit. Version 4.1 offers improved management of the Status Menu only functionality and more commands in the status menu.

Mac Shutdown requires macOS 10.10 or higher. It costs $12 and is available at the Tension Software website.
