Notable apps and app updates for July 14, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

Mac OS X Apps and Updates

Paragon NTFS for Mac

macOS Sierra may be a few months away from shipping, but a growing number of Mac users are testing the public or developer betas of the new operating system. Paragon Software announced today that its Paragon NTFS for Mac app already supports macOS Sierra, and has other new features as well. Paragon NTFS gives Macs full read/write support for Windows NTFS-formatted drives.

The latest version provides a way to submit support requests to ease troubleshooting, gives customizable product notifications, makes it easier to activate the app even when the Mac is offline, and also provides performance improvements. Paragon is also offering a 30% discount to new users who purchase NTFS for Mac by July 24, 2016.

Paste

Paste ($9.99) is a smart clipboard history and snippets manager for OS X that was recently updated to version 2.0. It’s quite the amazing app and has a large, loyal following. The new version adds pinboards, a way to keep your clipboard history nicely organized. You can create lists, and pin text, image, link, or file snippets that you’ve copied however you’d like.

Paste has also added Quick Look support so that any snippet can be seen in its entirety and there are now customizable keyboard shortcuts. There’s even a new type of snippet — color!

iOS Apps and Updates

Texture

Read a lot of different magazines? What if you could get virtually unlimited access to the magazines you love for $14.99 per month? That’s the idea behind Texture (free with in-app subscription purchase).

The top stories and collections are curated for you, so there’s “all meat, no filler”. You also have complete access to the back archives of many magazines, perfect for getting background information or just catching up on what’s happening. The app is universal, so you can take all of your magazines with you on any iOS device.

Steppy Pants

While the world seems to have been overtaken by Pokémon Go, there are other games that are still available. Steppy Pants (free with a variety of in-app purchases) is a walking simulator that has over 3 million players worldwide!

You’ll find yourself needing to avoid cracks in the sidewalk, dodging reckless drivers, and get to play as a number of wild characters like Moneybags, Smiley and Dumpling Head! As you gain coin, you get new characters and costumes. Enjoy!
