Notable apps and app updates for Feb. 8, 2018

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS Apps/Updates

BGE, a gas utility and headquartered in Baltimore, has launched its free app, which allows customers to easily access account information on the go. Featuring fingerprint login, push alerts and paying with one slide, the app allows residential and commercial customers to manage accounts on smartphones and tablets.

TMSOFT has released Playapod. The free app syncs podcasts to the cloud, allowing for immediate playback across all devices. Playapod displays exactly what the user has listened to, skipped over and “favorited” across all podcast episodes.

Goodwill Industries has redesigned and launched its Goodwill Mobile App. The free app is designed to make it easier for consumers to find locations where they can thrift shop and donate goods.

macOS Apps/Updates

Maintain has served up Cocktail 11.3 (High Sierra Edition), a new edition of Cocktail for users running macOS High Sierra.

It’s a general purpose utility for macOS that lets users clean, repair and optimize their Macs. The new version adds ability to thin or delete local Time Machine snapshots and offers some bug fixes and performance improvements.

Cocktail costs $19 for a single user license and available for purchase from the Maintain website. When unregistered, Cocktail runs in demo mode and will expire after the tenth launch.
