Notable apps and app updates for Feb. 27, 2017

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS Apps/Updates

Almalence has launched its xTeleZoom app for the iPhone 7 Plus, enabling extra high quality zoom capability capable of preserving resolution and suppressing the noise while zooming. The $0.99 tool is developed especially to extend the high quality zoom range of the telephoto camera of the iPhone 7+. Users of iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 models without a tele-camera will also reportedly benefit from higher quality zoom using the xTeleZoom app.

macOS Apps/Updates

AKVIS has released AKVIS Points 3.0., an update of the macOS-compatible software that turns digital photographs into paintings using the technique of pointillism. The new version offers an enhanced photo-to-paintings effect, updated AKVIS presets, two user interface modes, compatibility with CC 2017, and other changes.

AKVIS Points 3.0 is compatible with macOS 10.7 and higher.The product is available as a standalone application and as a plugin filter for Adobe Photoshop, Corel PaintShop Pro, and other image editors.

A Home license costs $49, a Deluxe license is $69, and a Business license is $89. One license key allows activating and using the software on two computers. AKVIS Points 3.0 is a free upgrade for recent buyers, as well for those who bought one year of updates during the last 12 months. Users, whose license isn’t valid for the new version, can get Points 3.0 for $14.95.

Reggie Ashworth has announced VidConvert 1.7.2 , an update to his video converter for macOS. The upgrade brings notifications and badges.

VidConvert is a video converter designed to make converting your videos simple and easy. The software will convert just about any type of video into one of many popular formats. You can create videos for your iPhone or iPad, for your Mac or TV, or formats such as DivX and MPEG. VidConvert requires macOS 10.7 or later. It costs $7.99 for a single user license. A demo which creates three-minute samples is available.
