Notable apps and app updates for Dec. 19, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS Apps/Updates

B-Eng has announced AntiVirus 1.2, an update to their popular virus and adware scanner for macOS.

A key feature of AntiVirus is that the app doesn’t force you to update virus definitions manually. In addition to stability improvements, version 1.2 adds a new port scanner, as well as a new vulnerability scanner.

AntiVirus 1.2 requires macOS 10.11 or later. It costs $8.99 and is available at the Mac App Store.

Gerald Flossmann has released ChordPro Buddy 1.2.5, an update to his easy and song editor and viewer for the Mac. 

The app allows musicians to create, edit and view songs, lyrics and lead sheets. It allows users to transpose, change chords and create formatted printouts or PDF. Version 1.2.5 boasts more than 50 improvements and bug fixes. 

Chord Buddy requires version runs on macOS 10.10 or higher. It costs $4.99 and is available at the Mac App Store.

iOS Apps/Updates

Dylestorm Productions has unleased I.R.I.S – DefOp. In the free game, the player assumes the role as Erika, a pilot from Angels Corp tasked with retrieving Project I.R.I.S from a secret lab located west of Borneo Island. The player must defend the secret lab from enemy invasion, using only beam gates and a limited defensive move that destroys any enemies surrounding the base — the Pulse Bomb.
