Notable apps and app updates for Aug. 8, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS Apps/Updates

Big Monk Games has debuted TNT Fred 1.0. In the free game, you’re in control of Fred, a mechanic who got caught up in a game show where he is locked in an arena filled with turrets that are trying to shoot him. The longer you survive, the better your score.

Zen Brains Studio has introduced Trending Topic 1.0, a free Twitter game. Part game, part information service, users clue-solve the trends through playing and can check them out in a tweet list matching the solved term, which is brought up after solving the trends.

Mac OS X Apps/Updates

Nektony has announced VSDX Annotator 1.1, an upgrade to its tool for opening, previewing, and annotating Visio drawings on Mac OS X.

It can open multi-paged documents, giving users the possibility to turn pages, switch layer visibility, view shape data and hyperlinks. There’s a total of 12 annotation tools, including adding notes, comments, titles, shapes, arrows, graphic files and more. You can also convert the file to a PDF or send it in PDF format via email from the menu bar. Version 1.1 is a maintenance upgrade with bug fixes and performance tweaks.

VSDX Annotator 1.1 costs $24.99 and is available at the Mac App Store. A demo version is available for download at the product website.
