Notable apps and app updates for Aug. 7, 2017

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS Apps/Updates

iTranslate Converse is a new, free speech translation app that turns your iPhone into a translation device. It’s designed to make a voice translation in any environment, even when there’s background noise or when you speak fast.

Rovio has introduced a new feature to Angry Birds 2 — player clans. This means that you can now team up with friends, complete strangers, or both in order to achieve a common goal. Clan members will also be able to chat with each other in-game, adding a social aspect to clans. Angry Birds 2 is free, but does offer in-app purchases.

macOS Apps/Updates

Zevrix Solutions has announced Graphic Inspector 2.3.1, a feature update to company’s quality control solution for images and vector files.

It’s a tool for Mac users that can check both raster images and Illustrator documents for specific resolution, color, spot channels, fonts and other attributes. Version 2.3.1 lets users preview Adobe InDesign documents thus eliminating the need to open them for identification or even have InDesign installed on the user’s machine.

Graphic Inspector can be purchased from the Zevrix website for $19.95. It’s free with purchase of PDF Checkpoint or InPreflight Pro for Adobe InDesign. A demo is available for download. The update is free for users of version 2.x and $10 for earlier versions. Graphic Inspector requires macOS 10.5-10.12 (some features require macOS 10.7 or later).
