News round-up: Tax changes will affect Apple App Store prices in Japan (and more)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, we’ll frequently offer a wrap-up of news items you should check out.

In a note on its Developer Portal, Apple says that starting in October, the Japan Consumption Tax (JCT) will increase from 8% to 10%, resulting in a price increase for apps on the App Store and in-app purchases (excluding auto-renewable subscriptions) in Japan. 

As noted by Variety, a mysterious AVID issue is knocking out Mac Pro workstations across Hollywood.

Apple Arcade, Apple’s streaming gaming service, went live in the tvOS 13 beta golden master build that was seeded yesterday.

In a note to clients — as noted by AppleInsider — a Jefferies analyst says Investors are being too conservative in their guesses of how much impact 5G will have on the iPhone’s sales in the coming years.
