News round-up: Mac and malware, potential product delays, more

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, we’ll frequently offer a wrap-up news items you should check out.

According to a report from Malwarebytes, the number of malware threats detected on Mac endpoints outpaced those targeting Windows PCs for the first time in 2019.

MacRumors says that the new Mac Pro and custom orders of iMacs, iMac Pros, and MacBook Pros are facing longer-than-usual delivery times via Apple’s on line store. The delay could be related to the Coronavirus that’s forced many of Apple’s suppliers to temporarily close their factories and suspend production.

Along the same lines, Taiwan-based suppliers are gearing up for production of a new lower-cost iPhone (possibly dubbed the “iPhone SE 2″ or the “iPhone 9”), according to DigiTimes (a subscription is required to read the entire article). They may also be delayed due to the Coronavirus.

Microsoft’s Project xCloud limited OS TestFlight Preview starts today. It’s is only available in the U.S.., UK, and Canada at this time.

On the other hand, Apple gained as much as $18 billion in market value on Wednesday following a report that its Foxconn iPhone plants will speed up their return to normal production, according to Business Insider.
