New MacVoices Live! Looks at the end of the HomePod

MacVoices

Apple has discontinued the HomePod smart speaker. On the new episode of MacVoices Live! Kirk McElhearn joins host Chuck Joiner to discuss how it fit, or didn’t fit into the market.

McElhearn covers both the Siri and the music aspects of the HomePod, why how people listen to music didn’t necessarily align to the HomePod’s capabilities, and suggests some alternatives for replacing that HomePod you might have been buying. He explains why you need to look for an AirPlay 2 compatible speaker, what the differences are between AirPlay 1, AirPlay 2, and Bluetooth, and why you might want to consider an AirPlay 2 receiver if you are serious about music.

MacVoices is an Internet show that delivers in-depth discussions with the most influential people in the Mac industry as well as the individuals who are out there making it happen on the front lines of the global Apple community. Founded as an audio program in 2005, the show has evolved into audio and video versions to offer the best of both worlds.

Joiner is the producer and host of MacVoices. You can catch up with what he’s doing on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
