Monday rumors: 16-inch MacBook Pro, Apple Glasses, ARM Macs, iPhone SE 2 (updated)

I hope this rumor is true. The long-rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro is now in introduction and will be available by the end of the month, according to DigiTimes

The website — who has a hit-and-miss record on Apple product prognostications — says Taiwanese manufacturer Quanta Computer has started volume shipments of the supersized laptop. Supply chain sources expect the 16-inch MacBook Pro to feature a scissor keyboard (replacing the controversial butterfly keyboard), an “ultra-thin bezel design,” and Intel’s latest Coffee Lake Refresh or Ice Lake processors.

In other Monday morning rumors, Bloomberg reports (again) Apple has targeted 2020 as a release year for “Apple Glasses,” an augmented reality/virtual reality head-mounted display. The glasses are expected to synchronize with a wearer’s iPhone to display things such as texts, emails, maps, and games over the user’s field of vision. The Bloomberg report also says that:

  • Apple may roll out an Apple Glasses App Store.

  • The first Mac with Apple-built ARM processors.

  • The 2020 iPhones will add 5G support, a beefier processor, and a rear-facing 3D camera for AR purposes.

  • An Apple Watch with sleep-tracking features.

Finally, in a note to clients — as noted by AppleInsider— analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the upcoming iPhone SE 2 (which will probably have a different name) will sport an updated antenna design that should improve how the smartphone transmits data to cellular networks. Whatever its name, Kuo forecasts that the phone will have an A13 processor with 3 gigabytes of memory, will ship in 64GB and 128GB capacities, and will be priced from $399.
