In a move that surprised only those few people who actually loved Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft executive Joe Belfiore broke the news on Twitter this weekend that the platform is essentially dead.

How bad are things for Windows 10 Mobile? The platform has a 1.3 percent share of the US smartphone market. That’s better than BlackBerry’s market share, although that company has recently switched to the Android mobile OS and may actually start regaining some share.
Microsoft is now focusing most of its mobile app development efforts on iOS and Android, making sure that users continue to use the company’s other products and services while conceding the mobile operating system market to Apple and Google.
