Mac sales in India tripled after opening of Apple’s online store

The tech giant sold 208,000 units in quarter one

Apple jumped to fifth place among personal computer brands in India in the first quarter of 2021. The company’s shipments of desktops, notebooks, tablets and workstations combined to reach 208,000 units, according to data from Canalys — as noted by DigiTimes.

The research group says th increase in Apple’s notebook and tablet shipments in India was due mainly to Apple opening its online store in September 2020.

The IDC research group also shows that Apple’s personal computer shipments in India (excluding iPads) grew 335.5% year-on-year in the first quarter. What’s more. Additionally, CMR’s figures show that India’s tablet shipments were down 34% sequentially in the first quarter of 2021. However, Apple was the second largest tablet brand in the country with a 29% market share. Apple saw its iPad shipments increase 144% year-over-year.
