LG reportedly to supply OLED panels for a 6.5-inch iPhone X

The Korea Herald reports that while Samsung will remain the sole or primary supplier of the OLED panels for the current, 5.8-inch version of the iPhone X, LG will supply panels for a bigger 6.5-inch model due this year.

The article says LG Display will start production in the second quarter at its E6 plant in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. The plant, consisting of two OLED production lines, has a monthly production capacity of six million OLED screens but its full-capacity production is expected to start next year considering its still low yield rate, per The Korea Herald.

In November 2017, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo told clients that Apple has a 6.5-inch OLED iPhone planned for the second half of 2018. He says it will be the general size of a Plus-sized iPhone and add an edge-to-edge OLED display.
