LG Display’s financial report hints at strong iPhone 8/8 Plus sales

Low iPhone 8/8 Plus sales? What low sales? LG Display’s third quarter financial report hints at stronger sales of the smartphone than estimated. The Apple supplier and world’s largest LCD panel provider reported an 80% growth in profits in the quarter.

Operating profit for July-September for LG Display came in at 586 billion won ($519 million), better than an average analyst estimate of 567 billion won. Revenue rose 3.7%.

Asked to comment on any signs of weak demand for mobile LCD screens, Chief Financial Officer Don Kim dismissed concerns about sluggish iPhone 8 sale. He said only that demand from clients continued to be strong.
