Letter from the publisher: most people are good

Country music fans are familiar with a Luke Bryan song called “All People Are Good.” I agree with the sentiment.

Years ago, I traveled A LOT for MacCentral, the first Apple news website for which I worked. At that time, there were four annual Macworld Expos (two in the U.S., one in France, and one in Japan). I attended and covered those. I also attended various trade shows in the U.S. (New York City, Los Angeles, San Franciso, Boston, Las Vegas, etc.).

The increasing proliferation of the Internet (and, more recently, the COVID epidemic) ended most trade shows. But in those years of covering them, I had the privilege of talking to folks from various countries, races, genders, backgrounds, religions, and political leanings. And those travels convinced me that most folks:

° Are kind and want to be treated kindly.

° Are friendly.

° Just want to live their lives and take care of their families.

° Make a decent living.

No, I’m not deluding myself. I realize the world can be a messy place. But it’s a small percentage of knuckleheads that mess everything up for the rest of us.

So have faith in mankind. And be good to each other and remember: different is okay. The world would be a boring place if, for instance, it was only populated with nothing but Dennis Sellerses.
