LaCrosse School District has 9,400 Apple devices in use

The LaCrosse School District — which has 6,800 students — has 9,400 Apple devices in use and incorporates Jamf solutions. What’s more, Longfellow Middle School is an Apple Distinguished School.

The district is a school district in LaCrosse County, Wisconsin. It serves the city of La Crosse, as well as several surrounding suburbs. There are 19 schools in the district.

Despite dealing with a tight budget, every LaCrosse student is equipped with a MacBook. LaCrosse uses the Apple School Manager and company’s Classroom app among its software. Impressively, the district hasn’t had to add a single IT staff person to make its goal of “equity for all students” possible, Vicki Lyons, technology services director, said today at the Jamf Nation User Conference.

“Made the decision to go with the iPad and the MacBook, we wanted students to allow students to learn today and take themselves further,” she said. “That’s true equity.”

The Jamf Nation User Conference, hosted by Jamf, is the largest Apple IT management community in the world and is underway this week. Jamf‘s goal is to “help organizations succeed with Apple products.”
