L.A. law firm sues Apple for the second time in less than a month

Another day, another lawsuit. Gustafson Nicolai, a Los Angeles-based law firm, has filed its second lawsuit against Apple in less than a month over an “exploding” iPhone.

The new lawsuit was filed May 12, 2017, in the San Jose Courthouse near Apple’s Cupertino, California, headquarters.  Gustafson Nicolai previously filed suit on April 20, 2017, against Apple and AT&T in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Both lawsuits set forth claims for “general negligence and products liability in connection with iPhone 6 devices overheating, exploding, and causing significant burns to Plaintiffs’ bodies, as well as other injuries and suffering.” The lawsuits seek damages for, among other things, wage loss, loss of use of property, hospital and medical expenses, mental and emotional suffering and anguish, general damage, property damage, and loss of earning capacity. In both cases, the plaintiffs seek punitive and exemplary damages.
