Kristen Wiig no longer attached to comedy series for Apple

In January, it was announced that Apple had landed a 10-episode comedy series executive produced by and starring Kristen Wiig, the Saturday Night Live grad and movie actress (GhostBusters, Downsizing). However, she’s had to drop out due to her shooting schedule for Wonder Woman 1984, in which she plays the villain Cheetah, reports Variety.

The article says that Apple is still eager to develop the series and that producers are regrouping. The project is inspired by Curtis Sittenfeld’s upcoming short-story collection You Think It, I’ll Say It and was to be produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine banner. Throughout the 10 stories in You Think It, I’ll Say It, Sittenfeld upends assumptions about class, relationships, and gender roles in a nation that feels both adrift and viscerally divided.

Colleen McGuinness (30 Rock) created the series and was tapped to serve as showrunner. She was slated to exec produce alongside Witherspoon, her Hello Sunshine topper Lauren Neustadter and Wiig.
