A Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign has launched for Transcendent Designs’ Superscreen, a display that turns an iOS and Android smartphone into a 10.1-inch Full HD tablet with 2560 x 1600 2K display. Contributions cost $99, which is 67% off the expected retail price of $299.
Transcendent Designs are looking to raise at least $50,000. Founder Brent Morgan tells Apple World Today that the Superscreen provides full control of people’s smartphones on a “4x larger and better, full HD 10.1-inch display.” It connects directly to a user’s phone via a secure, private connection. Morgan says there are no file transfers, no clouds, no wires and no contracts.

The campaign will run until April 19. Morgan says shipping starts in December, although “pilot units” will be sent to early backers in September. Backers can choose between two colors: midnight black and ivory white.
The Superscreen will purportedly have support for the Apple Pencil, Apple Watch and wearable devices. According to Morgan, features include: a 4GB RAM, 2GHz Quad Core processor, 2MP front and 5MP back high-res cameras, 88 dB built-in dual high-fidelity speakers that play while phone is on mute, a USB-C 3.1 connector, a 6,000 mAhr/3.7V/12 hour battery, built-in Bluetooth 4.1, and touch recognition technology to complement Touch ID devices.
