iPhone XR shipments may rev up to 20 million units next month

Shipments of the upcoming Phone XR are expected to ramp up to 20 million units in October, reports DigiTimes, quoting unnamed industry sources in Apple’s smartphone supply chain.

The shipment momentum for the iPhone XR is expected to continue into early 2019 as the ratio of iPhone XR orders to Apple’s total orders of new iPhone devices for December has been revised upward to over 50% recently, the article adds.

The iPhone XR will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB models in white, black, blue, yellow, coral and (PRODUCT)RED starting at $749 from apple.com and Apple Stores, and is also available through Apple Authorized Resellers and select carriers (prices may vary). Pre-orders will start on Friday, Oct. 19, with availability beginning Friday, October 26, in more than 50 countries and territories.

Meanwhile, shipments of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max has begun gaining momentum in September, with shipments of the iPhone XS Max likely to maintain at a rate of 4-5 million units a month or accounting for 20% of total shipments of new iPhones for a while, DigiTimes adds.
