iPhone users like the ‘Wall Street Journal,’ H&M, and Forever 21 (plus more interesting tidbits)

Cambridge Analytica – a data analytics firm with a database of demographic, consumer, lifestyle and psychographic data on over 220 million Americans — has identified some of the personal preferences of consumers and how they correlate to preferences in iPhones vs. Android users. This data is based on favored hobbies, clothing brands and car brands.

According to Cambridge Analytics, iPhone users are more interested in reading and politics/current events compared to their Android using counterparts. Politics and current events are preferred by 4.3% of users, and reading is preferred by 3.5% of users. Survey respondents that own an iPhone were about 4% more likely than respondents with an Android smartphone say that they use the Wall Street Journal as a source of news. 

iPhone users visit more stores on average and are considered frequent shoppers. People who own an Apple smartphone are more than 8% more likely than respondents with an Android to have visited H&M in the last six months

Forever 21 is the most popular clothing brand among surveyed iPhone users at 7.2% while Levi’s is the most popular among Android users at 5.6%.  According to those surveyed, iPhone users are about 2% more likely than respondents with an Android to own a Honda. Android users are about 2% more likely to own a Dodge over iPhone users.     

Survey respondents that own an Android smartphone were more than 5% more likely than respondents with an iPhone to consider cooking as one of their hobbies.
