On his Medium blog, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the upcoming iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will sport rear 48-megapixel rear, camera lens with a new stacked sensor design that can capture more light.

“The wide camera CIS of the two iPhone 15 standard models will be upgraded to 48MP and adopt a new stacked CIS design,” he writes. “Due to the low yield rate, Sony has increased the CIS production capacity for Apple by 100–120% to meet Apple’s demand, resulting in a significant reduction in high-end CIS supply for Android.”

The iPhone 15 line-up will almost certainly arrive in September or October.

° The iPhone 15 and ‌iPhone 15‌ Pro’s USB-C port and accompanying charging cables will feature a Lightning-like authenticator chip, potentially limiting their functionality with accessories that aren’t Apple-approved.

° The iPhone 15 models will sport support for faster charging speeds when used with MFi-certifiated USB-chargers.

° iPhone 15 Pro models will have improved LiDAR scanners that offer better battery life and improved performance.

°  The standard iPhone 15 models may lack support for ProMotion and an always-on display.
