“iPhone 14 Plus” may be 6.7-inch standard model

iPhone 14 Plus Clear Case

With a week to go until Apple’s “Far Out” event, the rumor factories are working overtime. Today’s gem comes from Twitter user Tommy Boi, a tipster who has been accurate in the past. The rumor? That an iPhone case from Apple shows the name “iPhone 14 Plus“. The name is allegedly in reference to a “standard” iPhone 14 with a 6.7-inch display.

This would mean that the iPhone 14 model lineup would look like this:

  • 6.1-inch iPhone 14
  • 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus
  • 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro
  • 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max

The name would serve to separate the device from the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple used “Plus” branding in 2017 with the iPhone 8 Plus. Since that time, the company has used “Max” to describe the largest iPhones. As for the validity of the rumor? We’ll have to wait until next Wednesday to see if it’s “Plus” or “Max”.
