iGlove anyone? Apple patent filing involves a ‘smart glove’

Apple has filed for another patent (number 20190065024) that involves the use of “smart gloves” or at least a finger device of some sort. The new filing is for “systems for modifying finger sensations during finger press input events.”

According to the details, a finger-mounted device (in other words, a smart glove) could be handy (pun intended) for use with the touchscreens of an iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. In response to detection of the finger near the input surface, actuators in the finger-mounted device may squeeze the finger inwardly to cause a finger pad on the finger to protrude outwardly towards the input surface, thereby softening impact between the finger and the input surface. Apple’s electronic devices could also get an array of components to repel the finger-mounted device.
