I’d like an AirPower desk for all my Apple accessories

I doubt this will ever happen, but I’d love to see Apple (or someone) make an AirPower desk (iDesk, perhaps?)

The AirPower was originally announced in September 2017 alongside the iPhone X. It was supposed to be able to charge a Qi-compatible iPhone, an Apple Watch, and a pair of AirPods (in a special wireless charging case) at the same time regardless of where they were placed on the pad. However, there was constant rumors of production, engineering, and manufacturing difficulties. Seems those rumors were right, as Apple announced in March that work on the device was being canceled as, in Apple’s words, “will not achieve our high standards.”

I’d love to see the technology improved and applied to an entire desk.

Back in 2017, I reported that Apple was reportedly working on long-range charging that allowed multiple devices to charge anywhere within range of around 20 feet.  It would be cool if future Mac laptops could charge iPhones or iPads. It would also be interesting if Apple offered an “iDesk” (the pictured mock-ups are courtesy of Geeky Gadgets) that could wireless charge iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, AirPods, and — at some point in the future — Macs.

Of course, such a product would be expensive. And folks aren’t going to want to upgrade their Apple Desk as often as they do a Mac or iPhone. The pricey Apple Desk would be a boutique item that would/should last years for the folks who forked out the big bucks for it.
