How to use multitasking in iPadOS 15

With iPadOS 15, multitasking is easier to discover, easier to use, and even more powerful. Let’s look at how to use it.

A new multitasking menu appears at the top of apps, letting users go into Split View or Slide Over with just a tap. The old (pre-iPadOS 15) method still works. You can drag a new app from the Dock and placing it at the edge of the screen to enter Split View mode. But this limits you to apps just in the Dock.

Now, as mentioned, when an app is open your can tap the three-dotted menu button in the middle of the status bar at the top of the iPad screen. You’ll now have three choices: Fullscreen mode, Split View, or Slide Over. For this tip’s purpose, choose Split View.

The open app will slide to the right side of your iPad screen. Now you can pick another app from the Home Screen or App Library. Or you can search for another app.

Pick the one you want and it will dock in Split View. You can now resize the windows using the black bar in the middle.

What’s more, using the new shelf in iPadOS 15 allows users to multitask with apps that have multiple windows like Safari and Pages, as well as quickly preview emails.
