How to use Apple Music collaborative playlists on your iPhone, iPad

Starting with iOS 17.3 and iPadOS 17.3, you can start a collaborative playlist in Apple Music.

If you have an AppleMusic subscription, you can invite friends to join your playlist, add your favorite songs, and react to songs that others add with emojis.

To collaborate, Open the Apple Music app and:

° Create a new playlist or open an existing playlist.

° At the top of the playlist, tap the people icon. From here, you can:

Turn on Approve Collaborators to approve those you invite to join your playlist.

Turn off Approve Collaborators to allow anyone with the link to your playlist to join.

°  Tap Start Collaboration.

° Invite others to join your playlist in a message, email, or other option listed.

° To invite additional people to join your playlist, tap the people icon again, then tap Share Invite Link or generate a QR Code that others can scan.

You can approve or remove collaborators by:

° Open the Apple Music playlist you invited others to join.

° At the top of the playlist, tap the people icon.

° To approve someone, tap the green checkmark icon. To remove someone, tap the red “X.”

You can accept an invitation to collaborate on a playlist by:

° Opening the playlist.

° Tapping Join Playlist.

° If you see Approval Needed to Join, tap Request to Join, then wait for the person who invited you to approve.

To add or edit songs in a collaborative playlist:

° In the Apple Music app, open the collaborative playlist.

° At the top of the playlist, tap the three horizontal dots icon, then tap Edit. From here, you can:

Add songs: Tap Add Music, search for music to add, then tap  the “+” sign.

Remove songs: Tap the “-“ sign, then tap Delete.

Reorder songs: Reorder songs: Drag the three vertical lines icon next to a song up or down.

To add reactions to songs in a collaborative playlist:

° In the Apple Music app, go to a collaborative playlist.

° Play a song.

° Tap the song that’s playing at the bottom of the screen.

° In Now Playing, tap the smiley face/+ icon.

° Tap an emoji.

To stop or leave a collaborative playlist:

° In the Apple Music app, open the collaborative playlist.

° Tap the people icon.

° Tap Stop or Leave.
