How to empty trash on an iPad with iPadOS 17

You should empty the trash on your iPad occasionally to free up empty space. However, this isn’t as easy as doing it on the Mac. But here’s how:

  1. Open the “Files” app on your iPad.
  2. Tap on the “Browse” tab located at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Look for the “Recently Deleted” folder and tap on it.
  4. Select the files you want to delete permanently by tapping on them or use the “Select All” option.
  5. Once you have chosen the files, tap on the “Delete” button.
  6. A confirmation pop-up will appear, asking if you want to delete the selected files permanently. Tap “Delete” to proceed.
  7. You’ve now emptied the iPad trash.

But you should note that once you empty the iPad trash, the deleted files can’t be recovered.
