How to create a Spatial Audio profile for AirPods Pro

Did you buy the new AirPods Pro 2? If so, you may wish to create a personalized Spatial Audio profile.

What is Spatial Audio?

Apple says Spatial Audio gives artists the opportunity to create immersive audio experiences for their fans with true multidimensional sound and clarity. Dolby Atmos is an immersive audio experience that enables artists to mix music so the sound comes from all around and from above.

How to create a Spatial Audio profile

You can use your iPhone X or later to scan your ear geometry for Personalize Spatial Audio, which syncs across your Apple devices with iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, tvOS 16, or later, where you’re signed in with the same Apple ID.

To set up your Spatial Audio profile, do one of the following:

  • Open the case lid with your AirPods inside and hold the case close to your device, then follow the onscreen instructions. I’d recommend having a mirror near by before proceeding.
  • On your iPhone, go to Settings, then tap the name of your AirPods near the top of the screen. Tap Spatial Audio Profile, then tap Create Spatial Audio Profile.
If you don’t see the name of your AirPods, tap Bluetooth, then tap the “I” icon next to the name of your AirPods.

To remove your Spatial Audio Profile on your iPhone, go to Settings, then tap the name of your AirPods near the top of the screen. Tap Spatial Audio Profile, then tap Reset Spatial Audio Profile.
