HomePod Video, anyone? Apple reportedly looks into speakers with screens and cameras

It was only recently announced that Apple was discontinuing the full-size, original HomePod to concentrate on the HomePod mini. However, the tech giant may have plans to expand the line-up into new areas.

According to a Bloomberg report by the usually reliable Mark Gurman, Apple has “been developing new speakers with screens and cameras.” In fact, last week Apple filed for a patent that hints at a speaker with a total touch-sensitive fabric design with a display — though the display would be limited in functionality.

Or perhaps Apple plans a device that can compete with the Google Nest Hub Max, which combines a wireless speaker with a 1280 x 800 resolution display and a built-in camera. Maybe Apple plans a HomePod Video with enhanced HomeKit compatibility.
