Graphics Fuzz: GPUs on iPhone X/8/8 Plus less reliable than those on the iPhone 6 and 7

Graphics Fuzz,  a start-up working on graphics processing unit (GPU) reliability, says its test results so far show that the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus seem less reliable the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7. They say there are more rendering issues on the newer Apple devices than the older one.

Graphics Fuzz tests GPU drivers by “feeding” them families of tests that should all render the same image, such that different image renderings (and, of course, application crashes) highlights GPU driver bugs. Ranked by total issues found, the start-up places the Huawei Honor 10 phone, with an ARM GPU, top in terms of reliability. At the bottom is the Google Pixel 1 phone, with a Qualcomm GPU. GraphicFuzz’s interactive table lets you rank the results according to each type of issue.
