Follow-up to the Vision Pro may drop the EyeSight feature to lower the price

In the latest edition of his “Power On” newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple is aiming for a price point of US$1,500-$2,500 for a follow-up Vision Pro.

The first gen of the US$3,499 (and up) “Spatial Computer” is due in early 2024. However, it apparently will only be available in limited quantities at first.

Gurman says the follow-up will shave off costs by eliminating, among other things, them EyeSight feature. EyeSight is, in Apple’s words, “an extraordinary innovation that helps users stay connected with those around them.”When a person approaches someone wearing Vision Pro, the device feels transparent — letting the user see them while also displaying the user’s eyes. When a user is immersed in an environment or using an app, EyeSight gives visual cues to others about what the user is focused on.

Gurman says that, alongside a less expensive  model, Apple is also developing a second-generation high-end Vision Pro too. A major focus of that device will be finding ways to make it lighter and more comfortable to wear, as well as a chip spec bump, he says.
