Apple Vision ProRumors

Follow-up to the Apple Vision Pro could slice the price in half

Apple is reportedly hard at work planning the follow-up to the Apple Vision Pro, which could cost half as much as the current model.

According to a new report from The Elec as spotted by leaker Revegnus, Apple is hard at work planning the follow-up to the Apple Vision Pro, which could cost half as much as the current model.

From a tweet by Revengnus: There are rumors that SeeYA is joining the supply chain.

– Apple is demanding an expansion of production capacity from Sony, but Sony is not actively expanding production. Apple finds itself in a situation where it needs to seek suppliers other than Sony, such as BOE and SeeYA.

– In the industry, there are rumors that Apple is positively evaluating and embracing SeeYA in China, and it is anticipated that SeeYA may join the supply lineup as a second supplier as early as the third quarter of 2024.

– Apart from seeking micro OLED suppliers, Apple is also accelerating research and development for the second-generation entry-level XR product to reduce the cost of micro OLED displays.

  • The industry expects that the cost of the second-generation entry-level XR product will decrease by more than 50%, and the cost of micro OLED screens will decrease by more than $100, resulting in a price drop from $3,500 to $1,500.

Last October, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said Apple is discussing downgrading some of the Vision Pro’s tech and functionality to cut costs as well in a future version. He said that these options include fewer cameras, lower resolution screens and an iPhone-grade chip — as opposed to the M-series you’d find in a MacBook. Gurman said the final device will likely be named something like Apple Vision or Apple Vision One to indicate it’s related to the Apple Vision Pro, just not quite as fully featured.
