Final Cut Pro, Compressor, Motion for macOS ready for the iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max

Apple has updated Final Cut Pro, Compressor, and Motion on macOS to take advantage of the camera features in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Apple has updated Final Cut Pro, Compressor, and Motion on macOS to take advantage of the camera features in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. All are available at the Mac App Store.

Final Cut Pro is Apple’s professional video editing app. According to Apple’s release notes, Final Cut Pro 10.6.9 includes the following enhancements and bug fixes:

• Take advantage of the flexibility and dynamic range of log-encoded video shot on iPhone 15 Pro.
• Enhance the look of footage shot on popular Fujifilm, DJI, and ARRI cameras using new log profiles.
• Fixes an issue that could cause Motion templates to not respond to the Opacity setting.

The upgrade is free for registers users. For new users, Final Cut Pro costs US$299.99.

Apple also updated Final Cut Pro for the iPad with the same features as the macOS version.

Compressor is Apple’s encoding companion product for Final Cut Pro. According to Apple’s release notes, Compressor 4.6.6 includes the following enhancements and bug fixes:

  • Take advantage of the flexibility and dynamic range of log-encoded video shot on iPhone 15 Pro.
    • Fixes an issue where the source/outsource comparison viewer won’t reflect the camera log selection.
  • Addresses an issue where Reveal in Finder wasn’t available for clips with modified audio settings.
  • Fixes an issue where luminance levels could be incorrect when Job Inspector color space and Output color space where set to Rec. 709.

Compression 4.6.6 is a free upgrade for registered users. For new users, it costs $49.99.

Motion is a motion graphics tool for creating cinematic 2D and 3D titles, fluid transitions, and realistic effects in real time. According to Apple’s release notes, Motion 5.6.6 includes the following enhancements and bug fixes:

  • Take advantage of the flexibility and dynamic range of log-encoded video shot on iPhone 15 Pro.
  • Improves performance when using the Align behavior
  • Fixes an issue where Motion could hang when playing back 3D titles at high quality.

Motion 5.6.6 is a free upgrade for registered users. For new users, it costs $49.99.
