Elon Musk says he once tried to convince Apple to buy Tesla

I’m skeptical, but Tesla CEO Elon Musk has tweeted that he once reached out to Apple CEO Tim Cook about the possibility of the tech giant buying Tesla, but Cook “refused to take the meeting.”

Musk says that he attempted to contact Apple during the “darkest days of the Model 3 program,” offering Tesla for 1/10 of its value.

The rumor mill is abuzz with talk that Apple plans to begin production on an Apple-branded self-driving vehicle starting in 2024. The tech giant and Tesla have lured away many of each other’s employees over the past few years.
